Exhibition at St Mary Magdalene Church, Fleet

St Mary Magdalene Church, Fleet is holding an Arts and Crafts Festival on Saturday, 18th and Sunday 19th November, 2016, with a preview evening on Friday 17th November. Hopefully this will be before the host of different events leading up to Christmas and also a good time for people to be thinking about buying Christmas presents!

The hanging fee will be £2.50 per painting and the church will take 12.5% commission for any sales made.

You can enter up to a maximum of 4 pictures, but only two of these may exceed 28 inches by 24 inches. Please complete the entry form and return by post or email by Wednesday, 18th October to Gil Graper.

It would be appreciated if you could supply a biography (max. 150 words) for placing beside your entries. It is a chance to advertise if you like to take commissions or sell paintings from a particular address. Please note that you are responsible for insuring your work.

Please ensure that your work is correctly framed with D rings or screw eyes and fine picture cord or wire, both tightly fixed. We cannot accept paintings that are incorrectly framed. Please check that the back of the painting is sealed with mounting tape and a clean board, not from a photo frame with metal clips and supports.

Paintings may be brought to church on Wednesday, 15th November from 3.00 p.m. - 6.00 p.m. or on Thursday, 16th November from 9.00 a.m. - midday. Unsold work should be collected on Monday, 20th November between 12.00 noon and 3.00 p.m.

Presenting Exhibits

A few pointers on preparing your paintings for exhibition . . . .

When exhibiting paintings, the way they are presented is important, so please make sure it is framed to a high standard. When busy it is easy to make a mistake, such as leaving off the fixings or card on the back. For paintings behind glass, use clean mounts, and seal with good quality tape on the back. Also dust over the glass andcheck the tape if the work has been hanging elsewhere. Use double mounts for pastels, and remember to paint edges on a box canvas. Work is devalued if not presented properly, so a little attention to detail can result in a sale - hopefully!
